Hive is an incredible lighting system that combines with your other smart home products. Using Hive bulbs gives you an affordable place to start when entering the smart lighting arena.
Like the Hue, the Hive has a square neat Hub that connects to your router via an Ethernet connection.
What I love about the Hive Hub, is you can connect Philips hue lamps to them but not the other way around. So no, Hive bulbs can not work with Hue bridge. I am waiting for this integration and will keep this post update when the Hive bulbs are compatible with the Hue hub.
Therefore, this post will feature how to connect Hue bulbs with Hive Hub and tips and tricks.
Philips Hue Bulbs Work With The Hive App
Thanks to Hive’s new features, you can now control Philips Hue bulbs within the Hive app. Plus, adjust individual lights of the Hue line to create different moods and control their brightness.
You can also use their beehive tools to integrate Philips Hue lamps, and it allows you to use the same interface of the Hive lights. The Hive app is very sleek and beginners friendly, so adding the Hue lights is an excellent addition.
Moreover, the Hive app even supports the millions of light color shades of the Philips Hue. Again, if you have the Hive ecosystem and want the Hue experience, it gives you this for a fraction of the cost.
How To Connect Philips Hue Lights With Hive Hub?
To start, make sure your Philips Hue is connected to the router of your Wi-Fi network and follow these steps:

To make sure you access all the features link the Hive Hub to the Philips Hue bridge according to the Hive app instructions. When you connect both hubs, the firmware updates will happen automatically.
How to reset philips hue bridge?
You’ll need to learn this technique after you have purchased your Philips Hue. I can’t remember how much time I had to reset my Hue bridge, so luckily for you, I can do this with my eyes close.
- First, turn off the Hue bridge.
- Remove the ethernet cable from the bridge.
- Turn the bridge upside down.
- You can use a top of a pin or very small point then, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.
- The LEDs will blink, notifying you that your bridge is resetting.
- Once the LEDs stop blinking, reconnect the Ethernet cable to the bridge.
Does Philips Hue bridge have to be plugged into the router?
Yes, you need to connect your Philips Hue bridge to your router using the Ethernet cable because the bridge does not have built-in Wi-Fi.
While Hive bulbs can’t work with Philips Hue Hub, you can still connect your Hue bulbs to your Hive bridge.
