How Do You Calculate The Number Of LEDs Your Dimmer Can Take?
Dimmers like the Philips Hue: the manufacturers claim the Hub can control up to 50 Philips Hue smart bulbs. However, with your basic dimmers, there are a few rules to follow.
Dimmers have a minimum and maximum rating and are measured in Watts. Manufacturers use this simple maths to calculate how many bulbs your dimmers can take for it to function correctly.
This includes taking the maximum rating of your dimmer switch and dividing it by ten. For instance, if you have a dimmer switch with a maximum rating of 300 watts, then 300 divided by 10= 30W. So, you can run four 7.1W dimmable LED light bulbs on your dimmer switch
